After being ridiculously spoiled by my family in Iowa in early May, my in-laws graciously hosted a second baby shower to welcome Baby H in Illinois this past weekend! In case you missed the first post, the link to the shower can be accessed here. The Illinois shower was hosted by my sisters-in-law, Mary and Amy, mother-in-law Cathy, and niece Estelle! Estelle was home from California, and it was so great to see her! Here I am pictured with these lovely ladies! (From left to right: Estelle, Mary, me, Amy, Cathy)
The theme of this shower was baby farm animals, and it was the most sophisticated and chic baby shower! Mary hosted the shower at her beautiful home, and she is truly gifted when it comes to decorating. I must admit that I am envious of Mary’s creativity and ability to transform her visions into reality! The balloon displays alone were spectacular, and that was just the beginning!
All around the house, the gorgeous and thoughtful décor continued. I know Amy, Cathy, and Estelle also played a big role in all of the special details, and I cannot thank them enough for the planning and effort they put into this event. From the hanging onesies both inside and outside, to the fabric streamers and balloon displays, the ambiance was inviting and special! Cathy even brought Rob’s old childhood wagon and filled it with treasured items from his infancy, including blankets, a balloon and shirt from the hospital, and his beloved My Buddy doll named Brian. Brian was certainly a great conversation piece (hehe)!
In addition to the elaborate décor, these ladies went all out on the food, beverages, and desserts! The spread of food consisted of marvelous things to eat that were so cleverly displayed! I will spare you the time reading and let the photos speak for themselves! The beverages included iced tea, a refreshing mommy mocktail, and sangria. Each guest was able to fill their own little milk bottle complete with a straw and lid! So CUTE!
My niece Estelle was responsible for the desserts, including her homemade cupcakes and chocolate covered strawberries! I am so fortunate to have talented bakers on both sides of the family who bake entirely from scratch I might add! Homemade cupcakes reign supreme, and Estelle made chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting as well as lavender cupcakes with honey cream cheese frosting. Yummy!
For favors, guests were able to pick mini bottles of champagne to celebrate the baby’s upcoming arrival or a homemade sugar scrub that Amy made. I think it’s safe to say that these ladies should start a party planning business! The sooner the better!
Like my shower in Iowa, I am so grateful for all of the people who were able to celebrate and make the baby shower even more of a success! It is nice to get-together and catch up with loved ones who we cannot see nearly enough! As I’ve said before, this little baby is so fortunate to have such amazing family and friends who have already supported us so much!
Mary, Amy, Cathy, and Estelle (and everyone else), thank you for showering Baby H with so much love! We are truly appreciative of your generosity, support, and love! Please see below for more photos! I apologize for those missed in photos!
