Halloween Dark Chocolate Bark

Updated: Oct 30

Trick or treat?

There are no tricks here; this dark chocolate bark is 100% TREAT! Haunted houses, scary movies, and anything gory have never been my thing. As I child, I was terrified of the movie E.T. On a scale of 1 to 10, my enjoyment of scary movie is a 1. I just can’t handle it! For me, Halloween is a time for fun, whimsy, and candy [preferably chocolate]! It was only fitting for me create an easy Halloween treat to reflect my preferences!

Aside from being insanely adorable, this chocolate bark is so stinking easy to make! I literally threw this together in less than 15 minutes, which is pretty impressive considering it looks so fancy. With the exception of the candy eyes, the more random you are with your toppers, the better it looks. I am a huge dark chocolate fan, so that is what I made my chocolate bark with. You could also substitute milk chocolate or semi-sweet if you prefer. This recipe is not fussy.

Chocolate bark is a perfect recipe to let kiddos help with. They can help spread the chocolate , sprinkle on all of the toppings, and break it into pieces. The hardest part of the process is waiting for the chocolate to set!

Not that too many of us are having parties or gathering this year, it would be nice for a small gathering as a dessert option. I truly had a blast making and photographing this bark. You will love it too!

Halloween Dark Chocolate Bark

1 10-ounce package dark chocolate chips

Halloween sprinkles, M&Ms, and candy eyes

Line a large sheet tray with waxed paper. In a microwavable bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 20-second heating intervals. Stir after each heating period until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.

Using a spatula, spread large swirls of chocolate on the waxed paper so it is about ¼ inch thick. You do not want the chocolate to be too thin or it will be brittle. Immediately sprinkle with the Halloween sprinkles and M&Ms. Press the M&Ms down slightly. Press the candy eyes carefully wherever you’d like.

Allow to cool at room temperature or place in the freezer for 10 minutes to harden. Once completely set, break or cut into pieces! Enjoy and share with friends!
