As 2017 quickly comes to a close, I have fallen into reflection-mode of all that has happened this year. I have always been nostalgic and sentimental, so I find value in remembering and appreciating the past. This year has been like a roller coaster; beyond having typical highs and lows, the year has been filled with some exhilarating moments but also times of terror. I came across the following quote, and it is the inspiration driving this post:
"When you feel discontented, think over your blessings and be grateful."
Louisa May Alcott, Little Women
Here are some of my greatest blessings this year, listed in chronological order. Additional photos are below, too.
My husband Rob and I celebrated our 1-year wedding anniversary! Anniversary #2 is right around the corner!
I bought a hybrid bike!
Several fun days were spent with in-laws in Florida. Thanks for the fun memories Cathy, Amy, Marianne, JG, and Grandma Jean.
March brought 2 special babies! My sister-in-law Mary and brother-in-law Dan had little Arlo. In addition, my dear friend Noell and her husband Chad had their sweet baby girl Elise. Both babies are growing so quickly and are incredibly adorable.
Thanks to Rob’s encouragement, Mitch8 Blog was born!
I enjoyed running the Sly Fox Half Marathon in Saint Charles, Illinois.
My nephew Brady celebrated his 6th birthday and had the COOLEST dinosaur party!
My beautiful friends Meg and Preston were married in Northern Iowa. It was one of the best weddings I’ve ever attended.
We enjoyed a fun week in Michigan over the 4th with Rob’s family.
I received clearance to run again from my doctor after having a blood clot.
Cat Jack came into our lives!
We enjoyed celebrating the wedding of my cousin Stacy to Joel!
Our relative John visited us from Japan!
This month allowed for lots of running and relaxation!
I successfully completed the (very hilly) Sleeping Bear Dunes Marathon in Michigan. My mother-in-law ran a speedy half and won her age division!
Two Thanksgiving 5ks with families were a huge success and enjoyed by most…
My childhood best friend Kaitlin and her husband Ben had their first child, a sweet baby girl named Madeline (Maddie).
In early December, I ran my 1,000th mile in 2017!
I became an auntie again! My sister Kelsie and brother-in-law Josh had a sweet baby girl Taylor Ann.
Milestone of 500 followers on Instagram on my mitch8blog account! Thank you for your loyal support!
As you can see, marriages and births accounted for many joyful memories this year and will continue on in the coming year. Blogging and running were rewarding activities, as well. I am feeling a bit anxious about 2018, but my heart is full of gratitude as I think about my blessings. My warmest wishes for a blessed new year are with all of you!
